Ummmm... Don't know if I am qualified to discuss the nuances of how they are better. Something about "traditional" running shoes totally being built to exacerbate running injuries because they encourage the foot to hit ground heel-first. These are based on the premise that bare-foot running is the best way, but you still have to protect your feet from debris and hot pavement et al.
The dangly-bit, is part of the elastic draw string running around the opening you insert your foot into to put them on - you pull to tighten the shoe opening. These were a clearance item, they make others that are for water-sport or that go all the up way to your ankle.

Good Morning! Are these "socks" the entire running shoe? What is the little dingle-dangle hanking off the back of the shoe?
How are these suppose to be better than a regular shoe?
