There was a lot of commotion going on next-door when I went home for lunch to let our dawgs out for their afternoon potty-break. As soon as the beagles noticed me, they came for me. Those two dogs drive me nuts with their relentless barking day in and out.
On another note, I think our little papaya tree may be trying to flower/fruit.
Everything is wilting with the nasty heat and lack of rain.

Good Grief, Michael-Ann - what a nuisance those dogs are!!! Do you have a hose handy - I've found that a good dosing with the hose helps them get the message ....
That wasn't on your property was it? And was it one of your cats?
Never seen a papaya before - it'
s quite leggy - is that because of your drought?
I have to admit Mom, I have thought more than once of blasting their furry barking butts with water... most recently at aproximately 5:58am last saturday morning when they bellowed outside the bedroom window.
The tree-ing thing all happened in the neighbors yard... poor cat. I think the neighbor believes its one of the ones I feed, but it is not, the little kitty is a newbie to our neck of the woods. Why do I know this? because he is friendly and affectionate, very acclimated to humans. This kitty is a sore spot with me at the moment, as the neighbor keeps tossing it over her back fence when she finds it and claiming that she has taken care of the problem... doesn't sit well with me after "taking care" of so many of my own problem critters. She is just hoping it will find it's way over here and hang out, out of her sight (and yard), no problem! Grrrrrrr...
The Papaya is a youngster. I planted it late last fall and nursed it through the winter. I'm not sure how it compares to regular papayas grown in their home. Gordy picked it up from a local nursery and I'm just trying to keep the dang thing alive. Would be neat if we could get some fruit from it though.
Another reason I'm glad I don't have any neighbors close by! As much of a dog person that I am, I have to admit to not being fond of beagles...very high energy, very high drive, very vocal, usually living with people oblivious to this so the dogs don't get the stimulus and exercise they need to be well balanced dogs.
Thus you get what you are living next too. Their bark is particularly piercing, isn't it? I hope the cat doesn't get hurt by them.
I like your little Papaya tree, I wish I could grow tropical plants up here.
