Oh well...

After doing only a second of googling, I have to come clean and admit that the article I posted prior to this post most likely was a hoax.

**sheepish grin**

oh well, as I understand it, it wasn't far from the real deal back in the 50's.

I still think we have come a LONG way....

and we have a long way to go.

I know isn't it incredible as to how far we have come and in such short time....that was only 50 years ago and compared to how long have we been standing upright? Amazing! I do think women have so much to do. To live and breathe without regret and by doing so, we can carry-on under any circumstance or activity. An example :it is astounding to think that in the last month, I have come to realize just how much a woman ,such as myself can do. And I never recognized how 'second nature' doing all this art business is. I love it! Being incharge of All of it and holding myself accountable to myself has been delightful....

Damn Carolyn! I knew I should have hired you full-time years ago!

You should show Mz. Mikie that book on etiquette and exercising for women that you got from your Grandmother! Now that is true, and somewhat of a riot!

Most likely--but not far from the truth. Come a long ways yes--but should be neither complacent nor strident:)

Just don't go sending me off to "Men's Camp" to bond. I'll have none of that!

So, you make dinner while playing video games?

So in the transpiring 50 years it seems the biggest change is that rather than a wife greeting her husband at the door with a drink in hand and having dinner made, now said items are hurled at him from across the room, for some perceived injustice perpetrated by some unnamed person at some unknown time somewhere in her life.

And this is all considered progress. I so dread opening the front door.

Mike surely you don't really dread opening the front door all the time? Granted I don't really know you, but I never got that impression about you.

I can imagine a lot of things, but I can't imagine a world where men collectively fear the unjustified wrath of women.

Brian... I'm a firm believer that video time (or any alone time) is a good thing.

My husband and I work together so we generally get home at the same time, with the same issues... we just kinda balance out each other. Sometimes he makes dinner, sometimes I do, sometimes we both just know it is a good time to stop at the little Mexican restaurant on the way home and ask them to make our dinner.

Sometimes it isn't so harmonious...sometimes we just look at each other like "Why the hell aren't you making my dinner?!"

I can't change my DNA any more than you can. It's a done deal. So can we all stop fighting over what particular flavor of DNA we were born with? I've got two Xs. Some of you have an X and a Y. Not all people with two Xs are bad, just as not all people with both X and Y are good. They're all individual people. Equal rights? Good. Equal pay? Great. Equal responsibility? Wonderful. "I had a boyfriend once that was a jerk, and you're male, so by definition that makes you a jerk." Not OK.

I have 2 X's too... thats just the legally betrothed ones :) HEY! sometimes it takes a few times before ya get it right.

I think my father figured out the secret to lasting relationships... commit but don't feel compelled to pay the legal system to acknowledge it.

"Jerkiness" is not exclusive to a specfic gender. Life would be crappy if you had to eliminate potential friendships based on gender.

Wow. Di y'all read the rest of the snopes article? The actual list of Do's and Don'ts from the magazine weren't all that much better than the fictional story.

I am so, so glad I'm alive today instead of 50 years ago.

Yes! That article had more impact on me than the piece it was referencing.

And like you Jane, I am very grateful to be in this time slot :)

Mike~"I had a boyfriend once that was a jerk, and you're male, so by definition that makes you a jerk." Is this in your current relationship? Or an old girlfriend? Do you understand the irony here? You are decrying women making a sweeping generalization about men by making a sweeping generalization about women.
It's kind of funny in a way.
