Singing in the car...

I used to love, love, LOVE singing in the car with the girls when they were little... as much as I loved doing the same when I was a little girl. There are a handful of songs I remember singing in the car with my sister, mom, and dad back in the late 60's... I was really fond of these songs (still am!) and hearing them always makes me smile. The first video doesn't show anything, but it was the only link I could find of what seems to be the the original recording.

"Hair" from the Broadway musical

"Close to You" by the Carpenters

and "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night

And here's one of the songs my daughters and I loved to belt out, "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys

I don't remember the circumstances, but I do remember the songs :)

A few others that resonate with me from back then:

"Song Sung Blue"

"Black and White"

and can't forget about "Joy to the world"!

I sure wish I could remember those days :)

Oh yes!! Those are GREAT ones too. I don't remember much of the circumstances either... just happily singing in the car with the radio cranked up extra loud in many cases. :-)

Well hello dere!!

Have you been able to muster up any X-mas spirit yet? I took my daughter's feet shopping today as she needs a good warm sturdy pair of boots, and boots need to be tried on to make sure they fit well and comfortably.

The rest of her came along for the ride, and I was glad she did...it might be somewhat unconventional but hey, Christmas is where you find it these days, right?

One of my favorites to sing in the car with you two was "Those were the days" - this one can still go around and around in my head .....

There is another one on the edge of my mind - hopefully it'll come to me over night .....

I agree boots must be tried on and yes, dem feets are connected to da leg bone ... and so on up the bone track .. they all had to go long, for sure ...

Boots are good food for the soul, sole? ;-)))) Glad you got to spend time with yer munchkin... I'm still trying to find it, know it's there, hell just last year I was heapin with mounds of it.

Mom... That song is like a spiritual experience for me... You worked at a ski lodge, we drove in the darkness of early morning hours to your job, or the babysitters???...it was COLD outside and breathing on the car window made fog. This song would come on the radio and all worries melted away... I remember singing it as loud as i could, thinking the three of us (You, Cheryl, and I) were an undefeatable force. There is a place in Houston, La Carafe, they actually have it on their jukebox..." Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end..."

It has been that slow creep from silent defense shields in place to tiny snippets of less awkward conversation sometimes accompanied by an o...
