Been posting in my "No Impact" blog for this week. Actually, it's more like "Lower Impact" for me, I'm finding bad old habits die hard I'm afraid. But I am making small changes, and the project is definitely making me think about what I am doing.

Hi - went over to "The OTHER Blog" and explored it for a while.
It's interesting to try to minimize wastage - it becomes quite a drill. The farmer's market that is close by you is a big advantage. It seems that your little town is about the right size to have trees and open space and yet draw a supplier like that.
I've been trying for years to cut back on my garbage. The biggest help has been the recycle center that takes aluminum/steel cans, plastic, paper and cardboard - they used to also take glass but unfortunately recently discontinued accepting that.
I also have some canvas bags that I put my groceries in when I check out at the store instead of using their plastic bags - I know it is a hassle for the checkout girls.
What is this "week" that you mentioned a couple of times? Is it some kind of national meatless week?
P.S. Good luck in your progress - here's to no impact - however, less impact is significant ....
Hi Mom,
It's an experiment/challenge started by a fellow and his family in NY who lived a year with no footprint.
http://noimpactproject.org/
Started last sunday and going until this coming sunday.
Monday we started trying not to generate trash, yesterday we added changing transportation, today we add eating only local food, tomorrow involves saving power, then we add cutting back on water usage...etc.
That's really interesting, there are definitely many ways I can modify my impact, and your blog made me realize so many more. Good info :)
