HooHaaaa!

Well the scrumptious dawgs arrived about 2:30 this afternoon and less than an hour later they had disappeared down the gullets of those who remained late on this Friday afternoon. The package came with all the trimmings, including a proprietary blend of Portillis hot dog seasonings to sprinkle over the top. The relish was da bomb diggity, tomatoes were at their peak of perfection, onion was just right, pickles were great, and the poppy-seed buns were yummy too.

All I can say is these are in fact THE best hot dawgs I have ever eaten!

The order even came with my very own paper Portillos' short-order chefs hat to keep as a souvenir - and just like the instructions said, and much to my co workers amusement, I put the hat on and wore it while I cooked.

Jane, any excuse to have a hot dawg party is a good one! Tried to get everyone to Limbo, it just wasn't meant to be :)

Mike... What the heck is in a meat pie I wonder? I also wonder what the shipping would be for 2-day out to Aussie Land???? Can you get picante sauce there? At least you live next door to a pub! Make a grocery list and I'll send you some provisions.

Meetch you ARE gonna have to order some of them for two reasons: 1) The dawgs are damn tasty, and 2) You ain't a gittin my hat!

Turns out you can actually make something resembling a hot dog here, they just don't seem to sell them anywhere - as it's one of those yankee things. I found 'em in the butcher shoppe, but I had to ask for 'sausage' for the guy to figure out what I was talking about. I'll just have to make 'em at home. On the positive side, the locals love sweet chili sauce as an alternative to catsup - and I think it would be quite tasty on a 'sausage' bun.

Came to you by way of Becky's blog.

My heart's with you but...

Hot Dogs are sacred. All deserve their devotees.

But...

I love Chicago, other than those inclement months,

But...

You are in a dead last tie with Cincinnati as to the worst condiments put upon the sacred dogs.

Relish, OK. But that irridescent stuff?

Onion is mandatory.

Pickles go on hamburgers.

Poppy-seeds go somewhere, just not on a hot dog bun.

I guess the last condiment I mention is why there are Roman and Greek Orthodox Catholics and various flavors of Protestants, not to mention all of the other faithful: TOMATOES???

OK.

Where is mention of mustard? Sauerkraut? The red onion sauteed relish from a New York street cart?

Though not mentioned, I'm hoping Portillis sells dogs with skins??

Like your writing.
